A Story About Pregnant Photography by Arizona Photographer Elaine Kessler

S wanted to surprise her husband with beautiful pregnant photography.  Visiting Arizona from Chicago, she contacted me to see if I could work with the local desert environment in the neighborhood she was staying to create something special.  Originally she had hoped to work in the backyard but I got there a little early to see what else the gated community afforded in ways of landscape and light.  Just down the street, I discovered this sweet little wash that I knew would work perfectly.

S was having a tricky pregnancy so she didn’t want to shoot too long.  We worked fast and I’m pleased with what we got.  While we didn’t shoot at first light, we were able to make the most out of the environment.

I love S’s use of the cowgirl hat with the fun tie-dyed dress!

Elements that made this pregnant photography session successful:

Scouting before hand to see what was possible in the local environment worked to our advantage – planning ahead and arriving to a location early can almost always afford happy accidents.
